New Open Access journal - APL Photonics

The American Institute of Physics publishes a number of highly respected and peer reviewed scholarly journals relating to the field of physics. They deal with subjects from acoustics, atomic physics, geophysics, plasma physics to nanotechnology and many more.

You can access AIP Journals from the JCU Library's A-Z Databases page or through OneSearch.
A relatively new title, first published in 2016, is APL Photonics, an Open Access journal. This title aims to cover all aspects of photonics, in a rapidly growing discipline with an impact on all aspects of modern life, and will be published monthly.  Results of photonics research are not only being used in enabling technologies, but also used in medicine. Demand for this specialist journal grew from the American Institute of Physics' involvement with UNESCO's International Year of Light 2015. Topics which will be covered by the journal include nanophotonics, optical imaging, sensors, photovoltaics and ultrafast photonics and include the disciplines of chemistry, biology and materials science.

Delve in to this journal and discover where research is taking lasers and optics.
