Visiting the Library

Have you been thinking to yourself lately "I'd like to visit a library?"

That's a good thought, and we encourage you to act on it. We'd also like to suggest you visit our library, because we like having you here.

We have two Library buildings in Australia. There's the Cairns Campus Library on the Nguma-bada Campus, Smithfield, and the Eddie Koiki Mabo Library on the Bebegu Yumba Campus, Douglas (Townsville).

You can find our addresses, floorplans and campus maps here:

And our current opening hours here:

While visiting us in person, be sure to check out the display cabinets and the art on the walls. Our Special Collections has many treasures, and we like to rotate them on display regularly so you can see some of the amazing items that are normally stored out of sight. We also oversee the James Cook University Art Collection, and the artworks in the building are often changed over to give different pieces a chance to shine (but some old favourites will stay around).

If you can't visit us in person, you can still visit us virtually. You can use our Chat Service to talk to us, use the search bar on our home page to explore our resources, and check out many of our Special Collections using NQHeritage@JCU.

But if you're in the neighbourhood, do drop in - we'd love to see you.
