Eddie Koiki Mabo Library

Wednesday 21 May 2008 was a historic day. The JCU Douglas campus library was named in honour of Eddie Koiki Mabo, one of the most important figures on recent Australian history.

The Hon Jenny Macklin, Federal Minister for Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs, officiated. Also present were the Hon Lindy Nelson Carr, Queensland Minister for Communities, Disability Services, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships, Multicultural Affairs, Seniors and Youth, and the extended family of Eddie Koiki Mabo, particularly Mrs Bonita Mabo and Ms Gail Mabo.
