New items on display: Trade Journals and Periodicals

Each week, new purchases and the latest issues of journals, magazines and newspapers are made available for immediate use and placed on display at both Cairns and Townsville (and made available online as Ejournals when purchased as such).

Please browse while waiting for your friends, or in Townsville if you are waiting for a coffee at Juliette's Espresso.

For new books, you can subscribe to the New Books email and for some journals you can set up an online alert called a Table of Contents service.

JCU subscribes to a variety of periodicals. Many are peer reviewed scholarly publications that are highly suitable for most undergraduate assignments. We also subscribe to non-peer reviewed and non-scholarly trade journals, newspapers and popular magazines. These non-scholarly works should be used carefully if citing in an academic paper and are often best used as an opportunity to read more widely. You should learn how to evaluate sources for their credibility.

Two interesting trade and professional journals on display are:

The Education Digest
Call number: 370 P43
This has a nice article discussing the reasons to embed arts into the STEM to create STEAM.

The Mining Journal
Call number: 622 P15
Discusses upcoming mining projects and company news worldwide.
