World Poetry Day 2016

Monday the 21st of March 2016 is World Poetry Day. Poetry reaffirms our common humanity by revealing to us that individuals, everywhere in the world, share the same questions and feelings.

Poetry is the mainstay of oral tradition and, over centuries, can communicate the innermost values of diverse cultures. World Poetry Day has been celebrated since 1999.

The JCU Library has an excellent range of poetry books for you to browse or to inspire you to write your own poetry.

A book of interest is:
Australian Poetry Since 1788 edited by Geoffrey Lehmann and Robert Gray
Call Number 820.81A AUS

This book is an anthology of Australian poetry from well known authors and other not so well known.
