Summer Opening Hours

The JCU Library changes to Summer Opening Hours on Friday 20th November, 2020.

During this time, library services will be provided on weekdays between 8:00am and 5:00pm. There will be no services on the weekends. The Cairns library building will be open for shorter hours, and the after-hours spaces in the Eddie Koiki Mabo Library in Townsville will be restricted to the Information Commons.

Until Week 1 of Semester 1, 2021 begins, our opening hours will be as follows:

Cairns Campus Library
Monday-Friday – 8:00am-5:00pm
Weekends - Closed

Monday-Friday – 7:30am-10:00pm
Weekends – 7:30am-10:00pm

Eddie Koiki Mabo Library
Services and Building
Monday-Friday – 8:00am-5:00pm
Weekends – Closed 

The library will be completely closed from 12:00pm (midday) on Christmas Eve until 8:00am on Monday, 4th January.

APA 7 th Edition has a number of changes from the 6th Edition. Here's a quick summary to give you a running start: Authors APA 7 th has changed rules regarding number of authors. Happy Birthday Shrek! Can you believe that it has been 16 years since Shrek was released? Doesn't that make you feel old bring back happy memories? Yes, on May 18, 2001 the world was introduced to the story of a grumpy ogre, a talking donkey, and a cursed princess. It also won an Oscar for Best Animated Feature. It just so happens that the JCU Library has copies of Shrek and Shrek 2, along with many other DVDs located in the 791.433 section. So if you need a break from studying, check out our DVD collection, it's cheaper than Netflix.

COVID-19 Fact or Fiction

Major publishers are supporting global scientific efforts to understand the Coronovirus or COVID-19 by ensuring research findings are shared openly and as rapidly as possible. JCU library currently has access to over 1500 peer-reviewed articles on the COVID-19 virus many of which have been published as free access articles to ensure the widest dissemination possible. Wiley , SpringerNature , JAMA and BMJ are just a few of the publishers monitoring the outbreak and making the latest information readily available.
