Christmas/New Years and the Library

Happy end of the Gregorian Calendar Year! If you're celebrating Christmas this year, we wish you a Merry Christmas. If it's New Year for you, we wish you a Happy New Year. If you're celebrating Hannuka, Dōngzhì, Midsummer, Midwinter, Kwanzaa, the Feast of Sharaf, Sanghamittā Day, or any of the other (quite a large number of) holidays and observances that take place towards the end of December/beginning of January, we hope you have a great time and get to spend it with people you care about.

Every year, the University campuses close down for the week between Christmas and New Years day, and opens up again after the public holidays.

During this time, the computing labs and 24 hour spaces are closed for maintenance, and none of the university services are available.

Library Closure

The Library will be closing at 12pm on Friday the 24th of December, 2021 and will open 8am on Tuesday the 4th of January, 2022.

This includes the computer labs and the library buildings. You will not be able to access the 24hr or after hours spaces during campus closure.

Online Resources

Our online resources are designed to be accessible even when the library is closed. You can continue to access all of the eBooks and electronic journal articles we subscribe to during the closure, using One Search or our Databases to search for what you need.

The Chat service will be shut during the Library Closure, but you can still search through our FAQs to see if you can find the answers you need. And we have dozens of How to Guides to help you navigate our online tools while we're away. You can also leave a question with us and we'll get back to you when the library re-opens in 2022.
