Skydrive changes

Microsoft recently announced some changes to the SkyDrive service, including the release of client applications for Windows, Mac, Windows Phone and iOS devices (iPad/iPhone). The clients allow for native user interface integration and synchronisation, much like the popular Dropbox service. With these changes, a reduction in the total storage limit from 25gb to 7gb is being implemented. However Microsoft are offering current users of the service the ability to keep their 25gb limit.

Staff and Students of the university who are current users of SkyDrive can enable their 25gb SkyDrive account by following these steps:
  1. Login to your @my.jcu.edu.au account at: https://my.jcu.edu.au
  2. At the top of the page, click More
  3. Select SkyDrive from the drop-down list, you’ll be redirected to SkyDrive
  4. Click the message displayed at the top of the files area, stating “SkyDrives’s free storage is changing – claim your free 25gb
  5. On the “Manage storage” page, click the Free upgrade! button on the “SkyDrive Free” storage plan
