With the fourth installment of Mad Max due for release in May 2015, this is the perfect time to catch up on the first three films in the series.

Set in a post-apocalyptic world, and originally released in 1979, staring Mel Gibson, 'Mad Max' tells the story of a young traffic police officer, Max, desperately holding on to his sanity and principles as thuggish gangs run rings around the under-resourced and overworked Main Force Patrol.

After the events of the first film, 'Mad Max 2' finds a hardened and unforgiving Max prowling the outback, dispensing vigilante justice on marauding road gangs. After a violent confrontation, he agrees to help a settlement break the siege they are under, then heads further into the desert.

Set 20 years after the first film, 'Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome' features Tina Turner as the formidable Aunty Entity, co-ruler of Bartertown - the only active community in the desert wasteland. Max fights for survival in the desert and in the Thunderdome, where two may enter, but only one may leave.
