Summer movie: The Matrix

JCU Library has a great collection of films! You can find them in 791.4372.

Released in 1999, written and directed by the Wachowskis, and featuring the first use of the now ubiquitous "bullet-time" effect, 'The Matrix' was a ground-breakingly original piece of action, drawing on influences from anime, manga, Philip K. Dick, and William Gibson.

Neo (Keanu Reeves) has been searching for the answer to his question, "what is the Matrix?" and, after meeting Trinity and Morpheus, he finds out.  It is all around him.  It is the air he breathes and the food he eats. It is a perfect simulation of a real world, a prison for humanity's mind.

With amazing martial arts, snappy dialogue, and some truly innovative visual effects, 'The Matrix' still delivers a fun viewing experience 15 years on.
