Database update: ProQuest Central

James Cook University Library has recently updated our collection with ProQuest Central. This aggregation of databases provides access to index and abstract services as well as full text content.

ProQuest Central covers a broad range of subject areas including the humanities, technology, psychology, law, education, medicine and business. 

Some of the new databases provide access to information not available with other aggregations, including market reports, dissertations and newspapers. 

ProQuest Central allows for broad based searches across all content, as well as providing for more focused searching of individual databases.

Some of the newly accessible databases are:

ProQuest Nursing and Allied Health encompasses more than 850 titles, over 700 being full text. Subjects range from cytology, radiology, and oncology to pediatric care, public health, and alternative medicine.

In addition ProQuest Nursing and Allied Health provide exclusive access to training videos from Medcom, Inc.  These videos cover important topics such as health care safety, emergency planning, checking vital signs and many more. Videos are well indexed for reliable search results and can be viewed in document view or downloaded to your desktop for reference.

ProQuest Biology consists of over 400 journals with over 300 available with full text access. The titles cover a wide range of topics in the biological sciences including botany, biochemistry, microbiology, and zoology.

  • Plant Cell
  • Bioscience
ProQuest Psychology Journals provides abstracts and indexing for over 600 titles, with more than 500 titles available in full text. Users get access to charts, diagrams, graphs, tables, photos, and other graphical elements essential to psychological research.
Subjects covered include behavioural, developmental, and clinical psychology, as well as neurology, psychometrics, and psychobiology.
