JCU Art Collection @ Australian Festival of Chamber Music

We are now half way through the fabulous Australian Festival of Chamber Music running until Saturday the 8th of August.  For those of us that were at the Free Festival Concert in the Townsville Queens Gardens last Sunday it was a musical experience that will not be forgotten quickly.  It was a truly joyous occasion.
Another concert highlight was Monday night's "Come Tango with Me"- what a magical night.

Did you know the AFCM presented its first season in Townsville in July 1991, initiated through the vision and commitment of the former Vice Chancellor of James Cook University, Professor Ray Golding and the Festival’s previous Artistic Director, Theordore Kuchar.
This year the AFCM is celebrating its 25th year and in line with this landmark, the JCU Art Collection is being showcased in the Townsville Civic Theatre Foyer with the display of a suite of six charcoal drawings completed by Professor John Eveleigh during the 1992 AFCM .  These include drawings of Ted Kuchar performing.  Also on display is a portrait of Professor R M Golding which was commissioned by JCU in 1991 and painted by Professor Eveleigh.
Don’t miss seeing these great works of art on display in the foyer of the Townsville Civic Theatre now.
