Introducing EndNote X8!

EndNote X8 is now available for download from the EndNote LibGuide.

EndNote X8 is designed to work with Windows 7 to Windows 10, and with Macintosh OS X 10.10, Yosemite, to the new OS X 10.12, Sierra.

For those who don’t know what EndNote is and what it does, you can find more information on the EndNote LibGuide.

Windows users
The file download comes as a Zip folder. You need to extract the files before you install the ENX8Inst.msi file. To do this, click Extract All at the top of the file window.

If you are upgrading from a previous version of EndNote, don’t forget to back up your libraries and edited styles and then uninstall the old EndNote before installing the new version.

What's New?
New look icons
The icons are now the same across both operating systems and are also more intuitive.
For example, a quotation mark indicates a command to insert citations and a PDF icon inside a magnifying glass starts Find Full Text to search for PDFs matching the selected records.

New Reference Update features
Use Find Reference Updates to update an entire set of references without verifying the update for each record individually. There is also a new option to edit the updated reference manually.

New tools in the Groups panel
The Configure Sync button will appear in libraries that do not sync with EndNote online. Use this command to set up EndNote Sync for a library.

Only one desktop library can be synced to your online account. Configuring sync for a new library will merge the libraries together. If you merge libraries, use the last library you synced as your new library.

The Recently Added tool shows references added to the library in the last 24 hours, 7 days, 14 days, or 30 days. Right click on the group to change the time period.

Improved Library Sharing
With EndNote X8 you can now share your library with up to 100 other EndNote X7 or X8 users. Everyone sharing a library has editing rights.

You can only share your library with people who have access to the desktop version of EndNote.

Activity Feed for library changes
An activity feed is available for each shared library, whether the library has been shared with you or you are the owner of the library. The feed will show changes made in EndNote on the desktop or iPad by all those sharing the library. It will not show changes made in EndNote online.
