May 10 is Wear Orange Wednesday. This is a day to say thank you and show your support for the State Emergency Services (SES) throughout Australia. The SES operate slightly differently in each state and territory of Australia but they are consistent in offering support to areas in need – and they’re orange all over the country.
The SES were there to assist when Tropical Cyclone Debbie recently hit the Queensland coast and when flood waters were rising in New South Wales - they are there whenever they are needed, right across the country. The State Emergency Services constantly assist those in need, responding to many types of disasters and emergencies.
May 10 is a day to recognise these volunteers, to say thank you and to show your support.
