1. Know where the library is and what services are available.
The library buildings in Townsville and Cairns are home to several key services:
- The Librarians will help you with researching and referencing for your assignments. You can also come for help with sorting out your passwords and setting up your WiFi. Our friendly InfoHelp Rovers can help you with basic IT questions.
- The Learning Centre can provide advice for writing your assignments, taking exams and managing your time effectively. They also provide support for developing your English and academic writing skills.
- Student Equity and Wellbeing provide support to help keep you survive and thrive at university. Their services include Accessability, which is a must-know if you have any short or long-term health conditions which may impact on your studies.
2. Know what's available off campus.
Can't
come into the library? Studying off campus? The library will still be
your best friend for researching and referencing assignments. Almost
everything we have can be searched from the box on our home page, and the majority of our resources are available online.
- Check out your Subject Guides to see what resources are best for your discipline.
- Our Off Campus services is available to anyone located more than 50 kilometres from the Townsville or Cairns libraries (some services are only available in Australia).
- Our chat service lets you talk to a librarian during our opening hours, no matter where you are.,
- Our FAQs can help you find answers even when the library's closed.
3. Get skilled up with some training.
- We run workshops in O Week and during the semester that will help you get on top of your assignments.
- We have online guides and training which cover everything we look at in our workshops and more.
- The Info Skills Road Trip is a self-paced series of online training modules that will help you learn how to research information for your assignments, evaluate what you find and reference it.
4. Join in the fun
