Access to the Library Buildings during Examination Super Hours

During the Examination Super Hours period, access to the Mabo Library Building in Townsville and the Cairns Library Building move into closer sync with each other.

On weekdays, both buildings are open for student use and study from 7.30am to midnight. The buildings are not staffed with librarians for the entire time, so check out our opening hours to see if you will be able to talk to a librarian in person. Remember, our chat service is not location specific, so you may be able to chat to a librarian as long as we have librarians staffing at least one building.

On weekends, the Mabo Library is open from 10am-10pm and the Cairns library is open from 7.30am-12.00am. Library staff will be available in person in Cairns from 11.00am-3.00pm, with librarians based in Townsville between 10.00am and 10.00pm.

See our earlier post for more details about opening hours.

To keep our staff and students safe, the buildings are accessible via swipe-card only from 7.00pm on weekdays and from 3.00pm (CNS) or 5.00pm (TSV) on weekends (Cairns also needs the card to access the building after 5.00pm on Fridays).

If you have lost your card, please make sure you contact Student Centre to arrange a replacement card. Security will be checking to make sure people in the building after 7pm/5pm are staff or students, and if you cannot produce a card you will be asked to leave.

Remember, the exam period is a highly stressful time for many students, and this year has come with a number of added stressors, so we want to make sure the library is a good study space for our students. Be kind to each other, and respect other students' needs to study in a calm and peaceful environment.
