COVID-19 Closures and the JCU Library

UPDATE: The lockdown of the Townsville region ends at 6pm on Friday 2nd of July, but the Bebegu Yumba Campus and Mabo Library will remain closed until after the Show Day public holiday (on Monday). We will reopen 8.00am on Tuesday, 6th of June.

From Tuesday, the Mabo Library will be open from 8.00am to 5.00pm Mon-Fri, and 1.00pm-5.00pm Saturdays.

You will need to bring a mask to campus and wear it when indoors or unable to socially distance yourself from others for the next two weeks. Follow the advice on the Queensland Government website.

Our online services remain available, and Chat services will be available 1.00pm-5.00pm on Saturday.

The Cairns library remains open as per normal for the inter-semester period.

Check our opening hours before visiting.

Townsville has been declared a potential COVID-19 hotspot and is going into a three-day lockdown as of 6pm on Tuesday 29th June, 2021.

The Eddie Koiki Mabo Library building on the Townsville Bebegu Yumba Campus will be closing at 5.00pm on Tuesday 29th June, 2021 and reopening (depending on advice from the State Government) at 8.00am on Tuesday 6th of July (following the public holiday on Monday).

You will not be able to access the library building or 24 hour Information Commons in Townsville during the lock down.

You are advised to avoid coming onto campus in Townsville during this time unless you work here and you are an essential worker.

Cairns library building on Nguma-bada campus is still open and library services are still available, in person (in Cairns) and online.

If you live near Townsville and you have library material checked out that would be due during the lock down, go to your Library Account and renew your material to make sure it isn't recalled during this time (material will autorenew unless it is recalled).
