Cairns lockdown and Library services

UPDATE! The Cairns Campus (and Library building) reopens on Thursday morning (12 August), but there are restrictions in place.

You will need to bring a mask and wear it at all times, indoors and outdoors - even if you can keep physical distance - unless you are eating/drinking, engaged in vigorous exercise, working alone in an office with the door closed, or you are engaged in an activity for which it is unsafe to wear a mask. The mask must cover your nose and mouth. These restrictions will remain in place from 4pm Wednesday 11 August 2021 until 4pm Sunday 22 August 2021 (unless we receive new advice from the State Government).

Make sure you check in for each building you visit on campus using the QR code.

Cairns has been declared a potential COVID-19 hotspot and is going into a three-day lockdown as of 3pm on Sunday, 8 August, 2021.

The Cairns Library building on the Nguma-bada Campus will be closed until at 8.00am on Thursday, 12 August 2021 (unless we have further advice from the State Government).

You will not be able to access the library building in Cairns during the lock down.

You are advised to avoid coming onto campus in Cairns during this time unless you work here and you are an essential worker.

The Eddie Koiki Mabo Library on the Bebegu Yumba Campus is still open and library services are still available, in person (in Townsville) and online. Please refer to the Townsville Opening Hours.

If you live near Cairns and you have library material checked out that would be due during the lock down, go to your Library Account and renew your material to make sure it isn't recalled during this time (material will autorenew unless it is recalled).
