Over the past two years, academics have been faced with digital pedagogy and technology information overload. Academics have needed to align learning, teaching and assessment materials and approaches to an online world.
To simplify the essentials of teaching online, this ebook has been designed to help academics plan, design, develop and teach technology-enhanced subjects and courses. The authors have included information, strategies and recommendations that illustrate good pedagogical design; along with tips to plan, develop, engage and interact with an online audience in mind.
The authors also set out to build their own knowledge and professional development by modelling and showcasing the use of Open Education Resources (OERs) for use at JCU in the hope of inspiring others to incorporate OERs into subject and course design.
Teaching with Technology, by Frances Cochrane and Trine Paerata is freely available as an ebook and is available now via the JCU Open eBooks platform.
The JCU Open Education Initiative
The JCU Open Education Initiative is a project by the Division of Student Life, spearheaded by JCU Library. The aim of the project is two-fold:
- We hope to support lecturers in adopting, adapting and creating Open Educational Resources including textbooks and workbooks in order to better support the learning of our students at JCU
- We hope to make information about the people and places of the Tropics more widely accessible and understood. More than 40% of the world's population live in the Tropics and 40% of the world's surface is within the Tropics, but the area is often under represented in teaching materials.
