NAIDOC Week 2022 runs from Sunday 3 July - Sunday 10 July, and there are many events and celebrations happening all over the country.
The theme of Get up! Stand up! Show up! encourages people from all cultural backgrounds to be present and vocal champions of Indigenous Australian heritage, achievement and culture, and to advocate for systematic change to build a brighter, more inclusive future.
First Nations people across Australia and the Torres Strait Islander Communities have a proud history of "showing up" - being at the forefront of what needs to be done, and agitating for positive change.
As part of a celebration of that history, we offer a profile of an activist who "showed up" a century ago and made his voice heard all over the world: Anthony Martin Fernando.
