Introducing our Open Educational Resources Discovery Collection

JCU Library is pleased to launch a new discovery collection during Open Access Week 2023.  The theme of this year’s Open Access Week is Community over Commercialisation and this is an opportunity to join together, take action, and raise awareness around the importance of openly available community-based knowledge-sharing systems.

Our team has embarked on a project to increase access and discoverability of both JCU Open Educational Resources and curated subject discipline OER collections.

OERs are openly and freely available resources that are in the public domain or licensed with a Creative Commons Licence.

JCU students and staff will be able to explore a range of curated collections including the JCU Open eBooks produced by the Library Open Education team in collaboration with JCU academic staff across all colleges. Improving the discoverability of these materials contributes positively to the educational experience of JCU students by reducing the financial burden of textbooks and increasing equity, accessibility, diversity, and inclusiveness for students.

Our brand new digital discovery collection features 20 subject disciplines and our plan is to evolve and grow this collection with the addition of new titles as they are published.  We invite you to be a part of this process by providing feedback or suggesting specific material to add to these curated collections by contacting your Liaison Librarian.
