New Ebook Release: Guidelines for participatory place-based health planning: Northern Queensland experiences
JCU Library is proud to announce the release of a new open-access publication: Guidelines for participatory place-based health planning: Northern Queensland experiences, authored by a team of JCU academics from the College of Medicine and Dentistry in collaboration with key project partners.
Developed specifically for the Australian context, this peer-reviewed ebook offers practical, evidence-based guidance for addressing health and health service challenges in rural, regional, and remote communities across North Queensland and beyond.
The guidelines draw on a co-design approach, incorporating key insights from participatory health service planning in Northern Queensland communities, as well as global literature on rural and remote health planning. The result is a valuable resource for students, practitioners, policymakers, and researchers seeking sustainable, locally relevant solutions.
Guidelines for participatory place-based health planning: Northern Queensland experiences is now freely available via the JCU Open eBooks website, and further details about the project can be found in the JCU Media release (7 October 2025).
This publication was facilitated through the JCU Open Educational Resources (OER) Program, an initiative led by JCU Library within the Education Division.
