For the JCU Library here in Townsville, the 30th Anniversary of the Mabo Decision means a lot more than another day on the calendar.
Our link to Eddie Koiki Mabo is a strong one, one that has stood the test of time and one that has become inter-generational. In 2008 the library building at JCU Townsville was named the Eddie Koiki Mabo Library. Since then, we have continued the bond with the Mabo family through Eddie and Bonita's daughter, Gail Mabo.

As we enter National Reconciliation Week in 2022, and in lead up to the anniversary of the Mabo Decision on the 3rd June, JCU Library, and the JCU community are hosting a number of events and activities to reflect on reconciliation and to acknowledge our commitment to the JCU Reconciliation Statement and Action Plan.
At its heart, reconciliation is about strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples, for the benefit of all Australians. - Reconciliation Australia
